This study investigates the migration of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) and neuropeptide Y (NPY) neurons from the olfactory placode to the central nervous system in embryonic chicks. It was found that NPY neurons originate in the olfactory epithelium and migrate alongside GnRH neurons, with a significant presence of NPY-positive fibers detected during stages 25 to 34 of development. The research highlights the functional relationship between NPY and GnRH in modulating reproductive hormone release.
