At Montreal in October 1968 the Air Force Propulsion Laboratory of the U.S.A. and the Electrochemical Society sponsored a symposium on zinc-silver oxide batteries. This volume contains the full text of thirty-five of the thirty-nine papers which appeared as "Extended Abstracts" for the meeting and one additional paper. The volume is not a random collection of original papers. From the outset a book was intended and knowledgeable authors have been chosen to provide a balanced work. The excellent coverage may be judged from the titles of the eight parts into which the book is divided : I Introduction, II Zinc electrode, fundamental chemistry and electrochemistry, III Silver electrode, fundamental chemistry and electrochemistry, IV Manufacture of electrodes, V Separators, VI Cell and battery design features, VII Applications of zinc-silver oxide batteries, VIII Battery use, procurement, quality control and reliability.
