What is Galvanic Corrosion in Dental Alloys about?

Galvanic corrosion occurs when two different metal alloys are in contact in an electrolytic environment like the mouth. The alloy with a more negative corrosion potential will corrode at an accelerated rate. Testing showed that three implant alloys, Implantalloy 1, 2, and 3, coupled with titanium implants had negligible galvanic corrosion and ion release below acceptable limits, so they can be safely used for dental reconstructions on titanium implants.
