The Consumer Price Index (CPI) report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics showed that: 1) The CPI increased 1.0% in May on a seasonally adjusted basis, with broad increases across most components. 2) Food prices rose 1.2% in May, driven by increases in all six major grocery store food groups. 3) Energy prices increased 3.9% in May, with gasoline prices rising 4.1%. 4) Prices excluding food and energy still increased 0.6% in May, largest increases were for shelter, airline fares, used cars and trucks,
