What is Mount St. Helens: Formation and Facts about?

The Cascade Range was formed by the Juan de Fuca plate colliding with the North American plate at a convergent boundary. This subduction created the volcanoes of the Cascade Range, including Mount St. Helens. Mount St. Helens is located in Skamania County, Washington and is one of the most active volcanoes in the Cascade Range. On May 18, 1980, Mount St. Helens erupted catastrophically, killing 57 people and cutting over 1,300 feet off the top of the mountain.
