The Holiday Project began in 1971 when people in San Francisco visited patients in a local hospital on Christmas Day to share a meal. It has since expanded to over 100 communities across the U.S., with volunteers visiting over 200,000 people in hospitals, nursing homes, prisons, and shelters during the winter holiday season. The Project provides opportunities for volunteers to visit and donate gifts and entertainment to help lonely people feel less isolated during the holidays.
