Bohuslav Martinů was a Czech composer known for his modern classical music, including six symphonies and numerous operas and ballets. After moving to Paris in 1923, he developed a neoclassical style and incorporated jazz and Czech folk elements into his works. He emigrated to the United States in 1941, where he continued to compose prolifically until his death in 1959.
