The electron transport chain (ETC) is the final stage of cellular respiration, located in the inner mitochondrial membrane of eukaryotes. It consists of protein complexes (I–IV) and mobile carriers (ubiquinone, cytochrome c) that transfer high-energy electrons from NADH and FADH₂ to oxygen, the final electron acceptor.
