Snorri Sturluson was an influential 13th century Icelandic historian, poet, and politician. He was twice elected lawspeaker of Iceland and authored Prose Edda, a collection of Norse myths, and Heimskringla, a history of the Norwegian kings. As lawspeaker, he supported uniting Iceland with Norway, making enemies. Later attempts to consolidate power led to clan warfare.
