This study evaluates the effectiveness of low-contrast visual evoked potentials (VEP) in detecting early optic demyelination in patients with clinically isolated syndrome, a precursor to multiple sclerosis (MS). The findings indicate that low-contrast VEP does not show improved sensitivity compared to conventional high-contrast VEP in identifying early optic abnormalities. Consequently, low-contrast VEP may not be a superior tool for early diagnosis of optic demyelination in MS patients.
