About this document
Industrial Revolution in South Africa by Yuveshnee Sinan is a document available to read on EtoBox.
The Industrial Revolution began in Britain in the late 18th century and transformed its economy from one based on agriculture to one dominated by industry and manufacturing. The increased use of machinery in textile manufacturing and iron production reduced the number of workers needed and led to many moving from rural areas to cities to find work. This rapid urbanization strained city infrastructure and living conditions for many declined as overcrowding increased and pollution grew.
