About this document
Baye Fall: Sufi Brotherhood in Senegal by Poqo Aviwe Bulalabathakathi Tyumre is a document available to read on EtoBox.
The Baye Fall are a Senegalese Sufi Muslim brotherhood with influences from local Wolof traditions. They follow the teachings of Cheikh Ibra Fall and have dreadlocks, dance, drum, and sing like Rastafari but follow Muslim beliefs. The Baye Fall movement was founded in the 1800s by Cheikh Amadou Bamba and Cheikh Ibrahima Fall and focuses on work, prayer, and remembering God. Some controversially do not perform daily prayers or fast due to their work. In recent years, some imposters have damaged the Baye Fall
