What is Philosophy's Literature about?

"Philosophy's Literature is a meditation on the essential interpenetration of the fields in the humanities, building on and opening out to a broader spectrum the themes of work and difference established in Andrew Benjamin's previous work." "Philosophy has traditionally attempted to define its field of activity by acts of exclusion, perhaps most strikingly in the case of literature. Philosophy's Literature begins by investigating what follows for philosophy when that act of exclusion is understood philosophically. Via an analysis of Goethe, Celan and Lessing, Benjamin reads literature as allowing both its own specificity and the capacity to introduce and sustain a discussion of topics central to philosophy - memory, friendship, the origin of art."--BOOK JACKET.
