This document reports on a case study exploring the perceptions of pollution and arsenic levels in indigenous people living near an open-pit ferronickel mine in Córdoba, Colombia. Two group sessions were conducted to understand perceptions of pollution sources and health effects. Skin was examined for signs of arsenic exposure in 15 individuals. Hair samples from 7 women were analyzed for arsenic, with levels ranging from 0.011 to 0.26 μg/g. The highest level occurred in a girl approximately 3 years prior.
