About this document
Understanding Work and Thermodynamics by Ayush Purohit is a document available to read on EtoBox.
The work done by a system during expansion depends on the path between the initial and final states in a PV diagram. For two different paths between the same initial and final states, the work will be different. The first law of thermodynamics states that the change in internal energy of a system equals the heat transferred plus work done. Carnot engines have the highest possible efficiency of any engine operating between two temperature reservoirs.
