This document summarizes a kaizen idea to reduce press downtime at a truck factory. The problem was press downtime occurred due to unavailability of crane no. 39/40 when the single power switch failed. The kaizen idea was to install a second switch drawing power from a different substation, so the crane would still have power even if one switch failed. This improved availability of the crane and reduced press downtime from 123 minutes on average to just 25 minutes.
