About this document
Lord Howe Island: A UNESCO Heritage Gem by hari manjesh is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Lord Howe Island, located 370 miles off the coast of Australia, was uninhabited until discovered by the British in 1788 and later served as a port for whalers until the decline of that industry. It is now home to just a few hundred inhabitants and much of the island and surrounding waters are protected areas due to the large number of unique plant and animal species found there. In 1982 the entire island group was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in recognition of its biodiversity significance.
