About this document
Forces on Chlorine Ion in Cesium Cube by Bruno Macedo is a document available to read on EtoBox.
1) The forces exerted by cesium ions at opposite corners of a cube on the chlorine ion at the center sum to zero, so the total force is zero. 2) Removing a cesium ion is equivalent to adding a negative charge at its position in terms of the force felt by the chlorine ion. 3) The force of repulsion on the chlorine ion from the added negative charge is calculated to be 1.9 × 10−9 N, pushing the chlorine ion away from where the cesium ion was removed.
