What is TB Spot about?

The study evaluated the T-SPOT.TB assay for detecting latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) in 200 rheumatic disease patients on immunosuppressive therapy, primarily TNF antagonists. Results showed a lack of concordance between the T-SPOT.TB and tuberculin skin tests (TST), suggesting that the T-SPOT.TB may be more sensitive in this population. The findings indicate that the T-SPOT.TB assay is particularly useful for patients with a positive TST, as they have a higher likelihood of having LTBI.
