What is A Roadmap for Implementing Best Practice about?
In the last chapter, we described some of the theories and frameworks that we used to guide our implementation work. Many of them are ones we developed while working with practice groups to help advance the implementation process. These frameworks were presented in chronological order to illustrate how our thinking about implementation has evolved over time. The previous chapter introduced the Implementation Roadmap, a comprehensive implementation planning framework, the focus of this book. The Implementation Roadmap process was built on our work in the areas of knowledge to action, adaptation, implementation, our experiences in activating evidence in practice in numerous settings, and our recognition of what were often needed supports for implementing evidence (Harrison and Graham 2012). The purpose of this chapter is to explain the phases of Implementation Roadmap in sufficient detail to demonstrate how each can contribute to successful implementation.
