Influence of External Magnetic Field on the Positron Diffusion in Solids by J. Dryzek; P. Golonka is a Physics and Astronomy article available to read on EtoBox.

What is Influence of External Magnetic Field on the Positron Diffusion in Solids about?

This paper presents Monte Carlo simulations of the positron diffusion process in a solid grain when an external magnetic field is applied. Our work has focused on the fraction of positrons, which reach the grain boundary because such a parameter can be observed in positron experiments. The simulations indicate that an increase of magnetic induction causes a decrease of that fraction, but at about 10 T it saturates. The influence of the magnetic field is reflected in an exponential decrease of the positron diffusion length, but it also depends on the grain shape and the positron mean free path. An attempt of experimental verification of the predicted phenomena is presented as well. Our studies are dedicated to the extension of the positron diffusion trapping model recently examined in literature.
