This study used finite element analysis to compare the efficacy of two fixed functional appliances - AdvanSync 2 and PowerScope 2 - in treating Class II malocclusions. A 3D model of the skull, mandible and temporomandibular joint was created from CT scans. Models of the appliances were assembled on the dental arches. Maximum anterior displacement of the mandible and von Mises stress patterns were extracted and compared between the two appliances. AdvanSync 2 produced less maximum von Mises stress than Power
