What is Amtrak about?

Amtrak has implemented Positive Train Control (PTC) along its entire Northeast Corridor owned right-of-way. PTC is a system designed to automatically stop a train before certain accidents occur, such as train-to-train collisions and derailments caused by excessive speed. Amtrak met the December 31, 2015 deadline for PTC implementation set by Congress on tracks used for passenger service and freight transportation.
