This article discusses the development of β-cyclodextrin-based nanosponges encapsulating gold nanorods and doxorubicin for synergistic chemo-phototherapy of lung cancer. The synthesized nanocomposite demonstrated high drug loading capacity, pH/NIR dual-responsive drug release, and effective cancer cell killing compared to individual therapies. The findings suggest that AuNR-S-PEG.β-CD NS-DOX nanocomposites are promising candidates for combined cancer treatment strategies.
