What is The Elephant and the Jackal about?

The Elephant named Karpuratilaka was brutal and destructive in the forest, destroying trees, nests, and the burrows of other animals like jackals. The jackals sought to get revenge for their destroyed homes. The clever old jackal tricked the Elephant by flattering him and saying he had been chosen as king by the animals. He led the gullible Elephant into a swamp, where the large Elephant got stuck and sank while the jackal escaped, leaving the Elephant to his death.
