What is 2007 International Patient Safety Goals about?

The Joint Commission International approved seven International Patient Safety Goals for 2007 that hospitals are required to comply with during surveys. The goals are aimed at correctly identifying patients, improving communication, improving safety of high-alert medications, eliminating wrong-site surgery, reducing healthcare-associated infections, and reducing the risk of patient falls. Hospitals must display compliance with the goals in addition to meeting 368 JCI standards.
