Stabodrill HT is a pregelatinized, cross-linked hydroxypropyl carboxymethyl potato starch ether drilling fluid additive produced by Novidon Limited. It has excellent fluid loss properties in water-based oil well drilling fluids and is stable at higher temperatures than conventional starches, up to 150°C. Stabodrill HT synergizes with xanthan gum to provide good low shear rheology and fluid loss control at lower gum concentrations. It has relatively high thermal stability and fermentation resistance.
