Pinewood Studios was established in 1935 in Buckinghamshire, England when industrialist J. Arthur Rank joined the project to create a film studio to rival Hollywood. Pinewood Studios officially opened in 1936. In its early years, Pinewood Studios produced many classic British films and also merged with Denham Film Studios in 1938. It became famous for shooting films like "Black Narcissus" in 1947 that were set in exotic locations through innovative filming at the studio.
