What is Railway Land Relinquishment Policy about?

The Ministry of Railways has delegated powers to General Managers to relinquish railway land in exchange for land of equivalent value from State Governments, up to Rs. 5 lakh. Additionally, the long-term leasing of railway land to Government Departments will now be done for 35 years with a one-time capitalized license fee based on 99% of the market value and a nominal annual fee of Rs. 1000. This change aims to streamline the leasing process and reduce arrears of license fees across the railways.
