1) The study examined the interactions between seeds, dung beetles, and rodents in central Amazonia to understand how these interactions influence seedling establishment. Seeds were either deposited with or without dung by primary dispersers. 2) Dung beetles buried 43% of seeds surrounded by dung on average, compared to 0% of bare seeds. Seeds in dung were more prone to predation by rodents. Burial by dung beetles decreased seed predation by rodents three-fold and increased seedling establishment two-fold
