GGBS is a cementitious binder used in concrete and mortar. It consists mainly of calcium, silica, aluminum and magnesium oxides. When mixed with water, GGBS forms an alkaline solution with a pH of 10-13. Prolonged contact with wet GGBS may cause alkali burns. Inhalation of GGBS powder may irritate the respiratory system. Appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn when handling GGBS to prevent contact with skin, eyes, and inhalation.
