What is Storytelling about?

The study aimed to determine the effects of storytelling versus story reading on the oral language complexity and story comprehension of 3-5 year old children. Two groups of children heard the same 24 stories, with one group hearing the stories told and the other group hearing the stories read from books. Both groups showed positive gains in oral language, but the storytelling group demonstrated improved story comprehension in retelling, while the story reading group improved language complexity.
