What is Pre-Hispanic Filipino Literacy Insights about?

The pre-Hispanic Filipinos had a writing system called baybayin that arrived in the Visayas by 1567. It was learned from Borneans who traded with Tagalog people in Manila and then spread from there. Accounts from the 1500s indicate the baybayin script continued to thrive in many parts of the Philippines during the early Spanish occupation. Some sources even estimated a literacy rate of practically 100% as natives were very accustomed to reading and writing in their script, especially women.
