This study evaluated the establishment, growth, and persistence of 18 native plant taxa and 9 Sedum species planted on simulated green roof platforms containing three different drainage systems in Michigan over three years. All Sedum species tested were found to be suitable for use on Midwestern green roofs. Of the 18 native taxa, Allium cernuum, Coreopsis lanceolata, Opuntia humifosa, and Tradescantia ohiensis were suitable for unirrigated extensive green roofs in Michigan.
