About this document
Antifouling Agents from Sphaerococcus Alga by Andy Cossio is a document available to read on EtoBox.
This document summarizes research on developing new antifouling agents derived from the red alga Sphaerococcus coronopifolius. Bromosphaerol, isolated from this alga, exhibited promising inhibitory activity against barnacle settlement with low toxicity. To improve its therapeutic properties, 11 derivatives of bromosphaerol were synthesized and evaluated. Three analogues displayed significantly higher inhibitory activity without toxicity. The results provide potential environmentally-friendly antifouling age
