Egyptian mathematics was one of the earliest forms of mathematics to develop beyond counting. It was essentially applied arithmetic based on examples and algorithms recorded on papyri like the Rhind Mathematical Papyrus and Moscow Mathematical Papyrus. Egyptians used a decimal system and could perform basic arithmetic operations like addition and multiplication in a manner similar to binary operations. They approximated fractions, areas of circles, volumes of pyramids, and knew properties of right triangles
