The Cavite State University started in 1906 as the Indang Intermediate School established by American Thomasites. It underwent several name changes over the decades as it expanded its offerings. In 1964, it became the Don Severino Agricultural College, a state college of agriculture. It added more programs and in 1998 was converted into Cavite State University, comprising several colleges, by virtue of Republic Act No. 8468, recognizing its role in serving the province of Cavite.
