What is Rickets and Osteomalacia Overview about?

Rickets is a disease of growing bone that affects children and causes unmineralized bone matrix. It is principally caused by vitamin D deficiency. Osteomalacia also results from inadequate bone mineralization and affects both children and adults. Some signs of rickets include craniotabes, a softening of the skull bones, and changes in the lower extremities for those with a genetic form known as X-linked hypophosphatemic rickets.
