What is Class AB and C Amplifier Overview about?
Class AB power amplifiers aim to combine the advantages of class A and B amplifiers without their inefficiencies. They overcome crossover distortion present in class B by ensuring one transistor remains on before the other turns off. This is achieved through slight biasing so each transistor conducts more than half a cycle. As a result, class AB amplifiers have higher efficiency than class A (around 50-60%) while also having better linearity than class B.
