William Fetter was an American computer graphics art director born in 1928 in Independence, Missouri. He graduated from high school in 1945 and served in the US Army until 1948. In 1964 while working for Boeing, he created the first computer model of a human body known as "Boeing Man", which pioneered the use of digital human simulations. He recognized the need for accurate yet adaptable digital human models that could be used across different applications. Fetter
