Growth performance and immune responses of pengba ( Osteobrama belangeri ) during high‐density fingerling rearing in biofloc system by Pratap Chandra Das; Abhijit Nayak; Subhas Sarkar; Pushpa Choudhary; Rakhi Kumari; Snatashree Mohanty is a Agricultural and Biological Sciences article available to read on EtoBox.

What is Growth performance and immune responses of pengba ( Osteobrama belangeri ) during high‐density fingerling rearing in biofloc system about?

The biofloc system (BFS) for fish production is based on in situ production of microbial flocs which plays three major roles: (i) water quality maintenance through uptake of nitrogen compounds and generating in situ microbial protein, (ii) rich nourishment of the cultured organisms with protein rich live feed, reducing feed conversion ratio (FCR) and decreasing feed costs and (iii) competition with pathogens. Since quantity and quality of flocs directly contribute to fish growth, providing a good growing environment both for microorganisms and cultured fish makes it a complex system for management. However, BFS has been an established technique used for the culture of different life stages such as seed, grow-out and broodstock raising of many filter-feeding brackish water fish and shrimps
