1) The Karnataka state government approved the formation of two new districts, Ramanagara and Chikballapura, by splitting existing districts. 2) Five new engineering colleges were also approved for the state, including one in the new Ramanagara district and others located in Kodagu, Bellary, Haveri, and Raichur districts. 3) The Cabinet allocated funds of Rs. 8 crore for each new engineering college in addition to construction costs.
