What is China about?
The Chinese government announced a target of 8% economic growth for 2010, despite the global recession, as it had for previous years. Thanks to large fiscal and monetary stimulus measures, growth of around 9% was expected for China in 2010, higher than forecasts for other major economies like the UK, Japan, US, and India. However, Chinese officials recognized that reaching the growth target was not guaranteed, as China relies heavily on exports and is therefore vulnerable to economic conditions overseas.
