The Bengkulu Basin in southwest Sumatra contains Tertiary sedimentary rocks with source rock potential. The stratigraphy includes the Eocene-Oligocene Lahat equivalent Formation overlain by Oligocene-Miocene volcanics and the Early-Middle Miocene Seblat Formation consisting of siliciclastics and carbonates. The Middle-Late Miocene Lemau Formation, composed of mudstones and sandstones, unconformably overlies the Seblat Formation.
