About this document
Understanding Prandtl Number in Heat Transfer by Sudhy Sj is a document available to read on EtoBox.
The Prandtl number (Pr) is a dimensionless number that is the ratio of momentum diffusivity (kinematic viscosity) to thermal diffusivity. It depends only on the fluid properties and fluid state, not a length scale. Typical Pr values range from around 0.015 for mercury to over 100,000 for engine oil. The Prandtl number controls the relative thickness of the momentum and thermal boundary layers in heat transfer problems.
