An arterial blood gas (ABG) test measures pH, partial pressures of oxygen and carbon dioxide, bicarbonate, oxygen saturation, and hemoglobin in blood. ABGs can identify acid-base imbalances and their causes, whether respiratory from lung function or metabolic from kidney function.
