About this Medicine article

Poster session is a Medicine article available to read on EtoBox.

In order to incise the intraocular tissue without bleeding or to coagulate it, a contact laser tip for intraocular surgery was developed using artificial sapphire. Using the conical contact laser scalpel which was connected to a conventional optical quartz fiber of a c.w. Nd:YAG laser system, the retina as well as the choroid of the rabbit eye was incised without bleeding at a power of 2 watts. However, an area beneath the incised retina and choroid was damaged as well. Therefore, it was suggested that a special spatula-like protector might be necessary.

It is typically read by researchers, students, and practitioners in Medicine.
