A cantilever beam with square cross-section and two point masses is subjected to a vertical displacement of 1 in at the support. Modal and response spectrum analyses are conducted in Ansys Workbench to determine the displacement responses of the two point masses. The mode shapes and participation factors are also calculated manually to validate the Ansys results. Finally, a random vibration analysis is performed to determine the 1 sigma displacement response of the masses.
