What is Ammonia Removal via OH Radical Photolysis about?
This document investigates the removal of ammonia by OH radicals in an aqueous solution. It finds that OH radicals generated by H2O2 photolysis can oxidize NH3 to NO2- and further to NO3-. Removal efficiencies were low and affected by initial pH and ammonia concentration. Laser flash photolysis with transient absorption spectra was used to study the oxidation pathway and kinetics. Results show that OH radicals oxidize NH3 to form •NH2 with a second-order rate constant of 1.0 × 108 M-1 s-1. •NH2 then reacts
