Earnings growth fell in most sectors of the UK economy according to recent figures. Headline earnings growth for the whole economy was down to 1.6% in the three months to August from 1.8% in the previous period. Earnings growth in the services and private sectors also declined while growth in the public sector fell slightly. Inflation fell further in September, with the retail prices index at -1.4%, driven down by falling energy prices.
